• Kamakhya Devi Temple Assam is a very sacred temple for Hindus and is considered one of the 51 Shakti Peethas of Hindu mythology. • This was the place where the yoni (genitals) of Goddess Sati felt during the tandav nritya (dance) of Lord Shiva with the burning body of Goddess Sati. • The Kamakhya temple is considered one of the oldest Shakti Peeth and is located in the western part of Guwahati.
